2015 Casco Bay Race Series

By Raf

One month to go until the start of the 2015 race season! So psyched! There's still a lot to get done at the shop, and I bet most racers haven't even gotten their boards wet yet this year. But the sun is shining right now, and I keep glancing at my trunks folded over in the corner thinking I should get out there before…

If you haven't seen it yet, please go back to our home page and check out the rules and regs for the 2015 casco Bay Race Series. June 6th will be our 1st official race of the season. It will be a short course, starting at Willard Beach and following the Cape shoreline to Ship Cove in Ft. Williams, around a buoy and back to Willard Beach. This will give future racers a great opportunity to sample the various conditions we will be meeting throughout the summer, without the challenge of too much ocean swell or any channel crossing. There will be some moving water close the Ft. Williams, but thats something everyone needs to become familiar with and comfortable around for later races, so its a good test. Worst case scenario, you paddle on your knees for a couple minutes.

If you are nervous about committing to a full course, even a short one, you can always do the start with the other racers and turn around after 10 minutes and come back to Willard Beach. However, you will not be entered for a chance at the grand prize for that day unless you complete the full course. The most important thing is that you are having fun and staying safe.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns. Can't wait for the season to start!
